Privacy policy.

This policy explains how The Software Collective collects and uses personal information when you use this website or contact us.

Who we are

The Software Collective (company no. 12014155), registered office 5 Parkgate Road, Neston, Cheshire, CH64 9XF, is the data controller for the information described here. You can contact us at hello@thesoftwarecollective.co.uk.

What we collect

  • Enquiries: your name, email address, and any phone number, organisation and message you send through our forms or by email.
  • Technical data: our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, to keep the site secure and working.

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies.

Why we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and, if we work together, to provide our services. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, or taking steps to enter into a contract with you.
  • To keep this website secure. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in protecting our systems.

We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for marketing unless you have asked us to.

Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers to run our business, who process information on our behalf: our website host Fasthosts and our email provider Microsoft 365. Enquiries are also kept in our own CRM system, which we build and run ourselves. Information is stored in the UK or EEA, or with equivalent safeguards where it is not.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for 2 years after our last contact with you, unless we go on to work together, in which case we keep business records for as long as the law requires.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to have it transferred to you. Email us to make a request. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
